Yaniv Eidelstein and Stephen Scarlata join Mike to look at Adrian Lyne's 1990 film Jacob's Ladder It’s the story of Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) who’s platoon in Vietnam is attacked by unknown forces. He suffers from flashbacks of this horrific event in 1970s New York where he’s left his wife and is living with his co-worker, Jezebel (Elizabeth Pena). He is plagued, as well, by horrific visions of demons. Is Jacob going mad? Is he a victim of a government plot? Or is it something else entirely?

Special guests writer and director Adrian Lyne discuss the making of the film and its fate.

Episode 554: A Clockwork Orange (1971)

We kick off 2022 with a look at Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange (1971). Based on the 1962 book by , the film stars Malcolm McDowell as Alex DeLarge, a teenager in the squalor of a futuristic London town where there ain’t no law & order. He’s a juvenile delinquent who eventually gets pinched for his crimes. While in prison he undergoes an experimental treatment that removes his free will but puts him on the straight and narrow only to find that all those he stepped on on his path to incarceration remember him... and not too fondly.

Episode 457: The Big Dig (1969)

Our appreciation of 1969 continues with a look at The Big Dig. Also known as The Blaumilch Canal, the film was written and directed by Ephraim Kishon and stars Bomba Tzur as the titular Blaumilch, an escaped mental patient with a mania for digging. When he finds a jack hammer in downtown Tel Aviv he kicks off a chain of events that demonstrates the absurdity of bureaucracy.

Yaniv Eidelstein and Maurice Bursztynski join Mike to discuss this delightful Israeli film as well as other entries in Kishon's filmography. Special guest Rafi Kishon recounts growing up with his father's work.

Also known as Ha-Balash Ha'Amitz Shvartz (AKA Brave Detective, Schwartz) this early film co-directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Ami Artzi has been described by Kaufman as being "more harmful to the Jews than Mein Kampf." We'll see if that's true or a slight exaggeration on this first episode of 2014.

We're joined again by Yaniv Eidelstein, who gives us the scoop on many of the cast and crew of this mad cap Israeli film.
