  1. I was 6-years-old in 1968 and have a clear memory of being in the back seat of my mother's car at a drive-in watching Rosemary's Baby. My mother and my aunt were in the front seats and i had my same-age, female cousin in the back with me. I remember watching it closely enough that at some point my cousin and I tore a napkin in half, so that we each had enough to alternately peek through and hide behind. I remember being terrified at the end that we were going to see into that crib.

Yeah, Rosemary's Baby at six, and later a lot of R-rated fare with my mother, who was a big movie fan. The Godfather at 10, The Exorcist at 12, Serpico, The Day of the Locust, The Last Detail and dozens and dozens of others, along with Disney, Bruce Lee and John Wayne. If my mother thought it was a good movie, I saw it with her, and I'm very glad for it. I didn't read Shakespeare as a kid, but i watched a lot of very good, "grown-up" movies and I think it made me stretch to understand and appreciate them. It wasn't academic though, just a fan passing it on.

  2. Had to turn this one off fairly early. The female guest's extreme personal angst and politic views get in the way of good discussion. 20 minutes on how it is somehow offensive they have a cycle calendar when they are, you know, trying to have a baby? Come on. "I've never had anyone know my cycle and that is creepy" That is why you are a 45 year old spinster.... sorry. Solipsistic, reaching projection of personal extreme political views does not make for engaging movie discussion.
