Episode 598: Cutter's Way (1981)

Special Guests: Jeffrey Alan Fiskin, Arthur Rosenberg, Ann Dusenberry, Lisa Eichhorn
Guest Co-Hosts: Maitland McDonagh, Mike Watt

Noirvember 2022 continues with a look at Ivan Passser’s Cutter's Way (1981). Originally released as Cutter and Bone, the film is an adaptation of Newton Thornburg’s 1976 book and stars John Heard as Cutter and Jeff Bridges as Bone. They’re a pair of troubled souls who engage themselves in a mystery that may or may not be real.

Mike Watt and Maitland McDonagh join Mike to discuss this fascinating neo-noir. They're joined by screenwriter and actors Arthur Rosenberg, Ann Dusenberry, and Lisa Eichhorn.

  1. I Love Love Love This film-I think of Rancho Deluxe,Winter Kills,&Cutter's Way almost as the Dude's early adventures, but it's John Heard's film all the way,Neo-Noir to the grain:)I just tookanother look at Heaven Help Us which was where I first saw John Heard as Brother Timothy!Up there with the Chocolate War:)I thought Ride The Pink Horse was Sante Fe ,like White Sands?Season's Blessings Mr. St. Mary & Mr. White:)

    1. So you agree with what Mike said in the Interview about his character being crucial?Especially when they are lunching next to Cord's wife? And,when Alex moves into his Pool-Guest House? So he was originally a prime suspect?
