Sci Fi Month continues on The Projection Booth with a look at Gary Nelson’s 1979 film, The Black Hole. It’s the story of a group of astronauts who, after an unscheduled course correction, run across the missing ship The Cygnus, which is in stasis just outside of a black hole. It’s something of a re-telling of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with Maximilian Schell playing Captain Nemo by way of Dr. Hans Reinhardt.

When the President's plane crashes in the prison colony that was once Manhattan, Snake is sent in after him.

Based loosely on the writings of Jack London and Leon Ray Livingston, Robert Aldrich's Emperor of the North Pole1973 tells the story of two hobos in the American Northwest during the Great Depression -- A Number One (Lee Marvin) and Cigaret (Keith Carradine). The two have a very uneasy relationship with one another and a completely antagonistic relationship with Shack (Ernest Borgnine), a railwayman who doesn’t want any freeloaders on his train.

Written and directed by Andrew Niccol, Gattaca (1997) stars Ethan Hawke as Jerome Morrow...or is he? Vincent impersonates Jerome through a rather elaborate scheme in order to fulfill his dream of leaving this planet and becoming an astronaut.
