Episode 44: Auschwitz (2011)

Special Guest: Dr. Uwe Boll

Love him or hate him, Uwe Boll makes some of the most challenging films around. Auschwitz (2011) puts Boll into new territory with this harrowing mix of documentary and drama as he interviews students about their (lack of) knowledge about the Holocaust and shows a day in the life at one of the most infamous death camp.

This episode also marks a technological advance unheard on any other podcast, the first fully-automated co-host, a pilot program made exclusive for The Projection Booth by our friends at Bell Laboratories.

  1. Oh my god, I think Uwe Boll is awesome* and the robo-voice was LOL
*Bolls got a big personality, and has some good movies (including rampage, one of the best films of that year, postal one of the funniest that year and attack on darfur one of the most important films of that year.) I even got a click from house of the dead, and in the name of the king, laugh-at humour! Although everthing else is ether so bad its bad (alone in the dark) or genre movies or mediocre films (tunnel rats, although its more unique which is good).
He also likes his boobies. Bloodrayne 3 has a sexy lesbian scene. I buy his films, I think its ignorant not to give him a chance. Looking forward to bailout!

  2. The interview in this podcast is really enlightening and demonstrates that Uwe Boll is definitely a complex and very intelligent character. While I don't think he is a great film-maker he certainly has knocked out some entertaining stuff and, in the case of Darfur, a really incredibly moving and worthwhile example of powerful cinematic art. He certainly doesn't deserve the relentlessly negative press he gets from most quarters, but then he doesn't seem to have suffered too badly as a result.
