Mike White March 2025

Mike White March 2025 Chris Stachiw makes the same mistake every year when he asks Mike to program a month of movies at The Kulturecast. For 2025 a handful of films from Robin Williams are on deck. The movies rank on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb at the bottom of Robin Williams's filmography and range from the maudlin (Jack, Patch Adams) to the derivitive (RV, License to Wed) to the truly exerable (Man of the Year). Joining Mike and Chris are many Kulturecast favorites like Mark Begley, Cullen Gallagher, Ryan Verrill, and Richard Hatem.

Episode 575: Popeye (1980)

We’re looking at the 1980 film from director Robert Altman and writer , Popeye. Based on the King Syndicate comic by E.C. Segar, it’s the story of a mariner (Robin Williams) who comes to the port town of Sweethaven looking for his father. He finds a town under the control of a mysterious man known only as The Commodore who has left his right hand man, Bluto (Paul L. Smith), in charge of the city which is plagued with ruffians and an overzealous tax collector. He meets the Oyl family, a dysfunctional group whom he must redeem in order to find his father and true happiness.

Father Malone and Paul Zimmerman join Mike to discuss the film while interviews include Allan F. Nicholls, Paul Dooley, and MacIntyre Dixon.

After Rainbow Randolph (Robin Williams) falls from grace, it's up to Sheldon Mopes (Edward Norton) as Smoochy, the singing rhino, to save the network. He quickly finds himself embroiled in the shady underworld of children's television in Death to Smoochy.
