We continue Sci-Fi Month with a look at the 1981 film from director Terry Gilliam, Time Bandits. It’s the story of a band of god’s workers who have stolen a map that allows them to travel through time. Along the way they meet a young lad named Kevin (Craig Warnock) whose parents ignore him. He joins the titular Time Bandits on their adventures as they run from god and into the arms of Satan.

Maurice Bursztynski and Eric J. Peterson join Mike to discuss this unusual family film. This episode also hosts the second part of our interview with co-writer and actor Michael Palin along with actor Mike Edmonds.

Directed by Gary Weis and Eric Idle, this mockumentary tells the tale of the incredible smash hit band The Rutles, their meteoric rise to fame and incredible influence on the music business.

The Rutles were the brainchild of writer/comedian Eric Idle of Monty Python, Rutland Weekend Television, (and more), and musician Neil Innes of The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

Episode 179: Life of Brian (1979)

(Bloody) Roman Month continues with the 1979 film Life of Brian – the second feature film from the legendary British comedy troupe - Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The film finds the lads in Roman occupied Judea circa 33 AD – a time when the Jews are being oppressed and a messiah is wanted. No, it’s not Brian. He was born in the manger down the alley from Jesus. Life of Brian tells the tale of Brian of Nazareth, a regular chap, who through a few twists and turns, ends up as sort of a fun house mirror version of the messiah.

Causing a scandal upon its initial release, Life of Brian is considered one of the finest comedies to come out of U.K.
