- Special Guests
- Nino Castelnuovo, Anne E. Duggan
- Guest Co-Hosts
- Ken Stanley, Rob St. Mary
Show notes
Jacques Demy's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Les parapluies de Cherbourg) tells the story of two young lovers, Geneviève (Catherine Deneuve) and Guy (Nino Castelnuovo), and their ill-fated romance in a wall-to-wall musical with a score by Michel Legrand.
Ken Stanley and Rob St. Mary (opens in a new tab) join Mike to discuss the film as well as other films from Jacques Demy. Big thanks to Simone Oppi (opens in a new tab) for helping with translations with Mr. Castelnuovo!
Errata: Mike speaks a bizarre mélange of Spanish and Italian. For example, the phrase for "of course" in Italian is "corso" not "por supuesto".

Gavin I've tried listening to this episode on multiple streaming platforms recently, including this site, but there seems to be a glitch. Somewhere around the 30-minute or 40-minute mark, advertisements begin to interrupt every 10-15 seconds, making it impossible to even hear a complete thought before another commercial cuts you off. Any chance this can be remedied? I would love to hear the rest of this episode.Anonymous I'm replacing the episode audio file now. Hope that works.Gavin It worked! A wonderful episode. Thank you.
