Guest Spot: Pulp Fiction on The Super 70 Podcast

Mike White of The Projection Booth Podcast takes the reigns of The Super 70 Podcast as he guides you through one of the most successful independent films ever made, Quentin Tarantino's . Winner of the Cannes Film Festival’s coveted Palm D'Or in 1994, Pulp Fiction scored seven Academy Award nominations and started or restarted several acting careers. Its development, marketing, and distribution by Miramax Studios revolutionized independent cinema and its’ unconventional narrative structure, extensive use of homage and pastiche have led some to call it the prime example of postmodern film. Since its release it has been one of the rare films made after 1990 that has been grouped into the top 100 greatest films ever made and in 2013 was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry of the United States.

But while we may recognize talent, we also may be missing a few things on the surface and ask ourselves when does pastiche stop and plagiarism begin? Join Mike as he takes you scene by scene through a film as well known now as Casablanca, by a director as well known now as Hitchcock.

  1. 217MB to download? You're killing those of us with data caps. A typical episode of WTF is an hour-and-a-half long and always under 30MB. This is roughly 4X that rate. Seems needless, wasteful and inconsiderate.

    1. It's not a matter of upgrading any system - whatever that means - but the fact that some people have limited data caps, quite likely due to financial limitations. The bloated uploads are needless. Your advice seems to be "Let them eat megabytes" and, of course, to "fuck off." Is that really the person you want to be?

    2. Well, you can complain to Dylan Davis as it's his show (not the Projection Booth). You can also upgrade your system or download via WiFi (may I suggest the local Starbucks?).

    3. I might have been a little harsh but complaints about something you're getting for free are a little rough for me to handle, especially when there's nothing I can do about it.
